In India, more than half of the population never have exposure or interest in stocks as they are happy with bank interest rates on FD and RD events if it's relatively low than the inflation rate.

But in the US, interest rates are peanuts. So here most of them do invest in stocks, and government bonds are more to get more out of their money.

Also if you are an immigrant who hasn't completed a year at least in the US, it doesn't make sense to invest in stocks as you must have liquid cash first.

Even though there are lots of stock brokers, I personally use Robinhood and Webull.

Both of them provide free stocks. So you can initially get those free stocks after signup and try to see how it works.

Also, Webull has a section in the app to learn different concepts of stock and options.

So I recommend installing it and keep learning so you know what you will be getting into before you start investing seriously.
