What is DevOps?
DevOps is a set of practices, tools, and a cultural philosophy that automates and integrates the processes between software development and IT teams. It emphasizes team empowerment, cross-team communication and collaboration, and technology automation.
DevOps Lifecycle
Because of the continuous nature of DevOps, practitioners use the infinity loop to show how the phases of the DevOps lifecycle relate to each other. Despite appearing to flow sequentially, the loop symbolizes the need for constant collaboration and iterative improvement throughout the entire lifecycle.
It consists of 6 phases:
Plan
Build
Continuous integration and delivery
Monitor and alert
Operate
Continuous feedback
Benefits
Speed
Improved Collaboration
Rapid deployment
Quality and reliability
Security
Let's talk about all these phases and DevOps practices in upcoming articles.
